Emperor Theodosius I Decrees Jewish Marriage Customs are Now Abolished

Emperor Theodosius I decrees that Jewish marriage customs are now abolished, especially the custom of polygamous marriage.

Theodosius' decree states:

"No Jew shall retain the customs of his race relating to marriage; nor shall he marry in accordance with his religion; nor shall he contract several marriages at the same time."
