Adolf Hitler pressures President Paul von Hindenburg to dissolve the Reichstag and call for new elections on March 5. The Nazi Party does not yet have a majority in the Reichstag and Hitler is gambling that in new elections they will be able to get that majority, allowing them to pass whatever laws they wish and complete their takeover of Germany.

Hitler's expectations will only be partially realized, however. The Nazi Party does gain an impressive 288 seats in the Reichstag, but this still isn't a majority. Even with support from the ultra-nationalist DNVP, the Nazis will not have the 2/3rds majority they need to amend the Weimar Constitution.
