Pope Sabinian dies. Not much is known about his life, but Sabinian was elected during an especially turbulent time when Rome was threatened both by invasion and by plague.

Instead of following the example of his predecessor Gregory the Great and giving out free grain to the populace, Pope Sabinian chose to sell it at exhorbitant prices. This created a huge profit for the papal treasury but it also made Sabinian him so unpopular that, when he died, his funeral procession had to go outside the city walls in order to reach St. Peter's Basilica.
