Germany's first concentration camp is set up in Dachau, just outside of Munich on the site of an old powder mill.
In its early phase the Dachau concentration camp will be used to detain large numbers of political opponents of the Nazi Party, only some of whom are Jews.
Most of those incarcerated in Dachau are socialists, communist, labor union leaders, and other generally left-leaning members of the political community.
It's important to note the fact that while Adolf Hitler has become chancellor by this point, the Nazis still don't have a majority in the Reichstag and the infamous Reichstag Fire, which gives Hitler an excuse to all but eliminate civil liberties, still hasn't occurred.
