Hermann Goering, the Prussian Minister of Interior, issues a decree closing all short-term hotels and other places believed to be frequented by gays. Goering also issues a decree to cleanse the streets of prostitution.
Christian leaders welcome these changes because they long opposed the more liberal attitudes towards gays, homosexuality, and looser sexual morality in general which grew during the Weimar Republic. Religious conservatives believe that social order cannot be maintained so long as sexual disorders are permitted to spread unchecked.
