Raymond VII of Toulouse, a French noble accused of supporting Catharism, formally submits to king Louis IX who pardons him. Raymond is the son of Raymond VI of Toulouse, one of the most important leaders of the Cathar heresy in southern France. Through his mother, Joan of England, he is also a grandson of Henry II of England and a nephew of kings Richard I and John of England.
