In Baden-Baden, Germany, the people decide to elect their own priest instead of simply accepting whoever might be imposed upon them by higher clergy in the Catholic Church.

Although this event occurs long before the actual Protestant Reformation, it's regarded by some as an early example of the Protestant Spirit of Germany.
