While traveling through the conquered areas of Poland, Joseph Goebbels visits Lodz, where large numbers of Jews are already being gathered up by the Nazis for future deportation.

Goebbels writes in his dairy:

"It is indescribable. These aren't human beings anymore, they are animals. This is no longer a humanitarian job, but a surgical one.

We must make incisions here, and very radical ones at that, otherwise all of Europe will collapse from this Jewish disease. We travel over Polish streets and it already looks like Asia. We will have a lot to do in order to make this region German."
